Gerald Davis, "The Damned" at Salon 94 June 18 through July 17, 2009 I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of these works before the show. It was November 2008, the world was ending. Except that it never did.
The last show was much better, these seem more rendered to the extent of being overwrought and lugubrious. There's too much going on, the "symbolism" gets muddled, the distortion gets less meaningful and poetic. I think he's a good artist and I'm always curious, but this show seems like it may have been a bit rushed or overconfident to the point of being less thought out, less self critical.

Definitely a kindred spirit JDB.
I'm loving the old TV in The Sleepover and the color sense to all of it.
